What Jesus is to Us

Jan 4 2020

The downside of talking with you guys so much on the phone is that I never have anything new to say in the emails!

This was a good week. It was very rainy and because of all the parties and new year’s celebrations, it was hard to find anyone home. Everyone was traveling.  But it was still a week full of miracles and full of the Lord guiding us to find people in the middle of the craziness of the new year.

President’s sister was in town for New Years and also president’s son Arthur, who will be going on a mission to Recife - State of Pernambuco, Brazil in a few weeks. We got to eat New Year’s dinner with them and then they invited us back to eat lunch the following day. President’s sister, like president, is an official translator for the church and so it was cool to talk to her and her family about her experiences.

Also turns out there is one store that sells imported A&W root beer, so that was amazing I think some of the American elders almost teared up haha!

 Funny story:
We ran into a group of men walking on the street and I bore my testimony and invited them to hear our message and then one of them said "wait, you are of Jesus Christ" yes Sir" I replied and he responded "so am I, it looks like we tied" and then walked away. I was shocked haha
Story 2:
We stopped and talked with a man walking with his wife on the street on New Year’s Eve and in return he asked us what we believed in and I responded with a testimony and started saying the first few articles of faith. He asked us some other questions and asked what Jesus is to us. It made me so happy to be able to say from the bottom of my heart about my growing relationship and love for the lord and everything to he made me able to do. He asked how we are saved and what the only path to heaven is. We answered with a smile about the doctrine of Christ and of the plan of salvation!
In the end he said “good, I just am happy to see real people teaching what Christ really taught. There are so many that say that’s what they teach, but then mix up everything that Jesus said. I would love to talk to you."

I think these two stories make a good contrast; one is of a man who settled for what he already knew and settled for something good - not looking for anything more.
The other was a man who had good desires wanting to be better wanting to always learn more about God.

I love teaching this gospel I love being a missionary.
I’m trying every bit more to be converted even more to Jesus Christ.

it was great to see the Sheffields and it was great to see you skiing mom haha

Love you family
