What's really important

Mar 20, 2020 Dear Famil y  So just starting off, It's so good to hear from you and I couldn't be safer or better. We're tucked away in the little mountain cities of brasil. I know why God called me right here for this time right now.  Everyone is going a little crazy, stressed out, paranoid here but in the mission everything is amazing we are working our buns off in the service of the Lord.  Preparing missionaries, tracking buses, and flights and everything, helping the missionaries rally around the members and use the tools they have better.  This is the most exciting time to be a missionary! haha  Presidente called us to put together a war room, where we can make plans, so in a couple hours we got all of the phone lines that we had working, a couple whiteboards and started making plans and calling all of the missionaries.  We are keeping an eye on everything. It's exciting to be in the middle of the action. We have been working non-stop to take c

I'm Fine

Mar 14, 2020 Dear mom, So don't stress. I’m fine, everyone’s fine, all the missionaries are fine!!  This is the one good thing about serving in the middle of nowhere. No signs of the virus, and so the work will go on stronger than ever. Sacrament will be with the members of the church, so we are going to be working a lot and getting to know the members.  Everything is actually relatively normal here. There isn't much that can stop us missionaries. We are working on transference and all the changes that are going on.  I'm so excited to train the new secretary! it is going to be great I know that this is truly an inspired work.  God LIVES If you aren’t sure about that or if you are sure about it... talk to Him, He´ll be glad to hear from you. Love  Elder  Sheffield Elder Inkleys birthday! Beautiful brasil pizza to celebrate zone leader fell asleep on my bed Cutting elder Eastwoods hair in my sunny p-day tie and shades

The goal is progression & improvement

Mar 7 2020  What a great week. My companions great. We worked a lot and had lots of little blessings and miracles. We started talking about the parable of the talents and I don't think we understand that one very well.   I never liked in church everyone just assumes that talents means abilities or talents. I think we lose so much of the meaning just assuming the lord was comparing the money (talents) to our physical abilities (talents) .  Here are some thoughts bout what i learned and felt reading this story. -The servant knew their master before, he was no stranger to them: If we want to do what the Lord wants for us we should probably first get to know the Lord. -The Lord didn't say "hey I expect this of you and this much from you" No the master went straightway on his journey. We need to do our best with what we know is good and with what we know the Lord wants for us. -The talent is no little sum. It’s like all you earn working for 20 year

What have you learned?

Feb 29 2020 Dear Family So Elder Eastwood was asking us about what we had learned in District meeting! And I loved hearing about what everyone said they had learned. I LEARNED SO MUCH! So my new go to question is what have you learned lately? So here are some things I learned this week Today was already so great. Presidents wife came over to clean our house with us to show us how a pro does it. So I learned a lot about cleaning today haha Listening to music while scrubbing bathrooms reminded me good ol’ Saturday morning cleaning at home. We have a couple awesome lessons for today, with investigators!!! Aide and also Josemar and his family! Pray for them! Also, other important people that need Gods help: Jose and his adorable family, Nicolas!, Eduardo, actually… just buy a phone book from Juiz de Fora and just go name for name praying for everyone! Do you remember Ginger Ramiez? She is in my mission and is a great missionary I learned about how much easier e

O Espirito Santo

22Feb 20  This week was great. Full of ups and downs. But as the end of the week came, there were a lot more up then there were downs.  Here on the mission I have come to recognize the spirit so much more. We feel the holy spirit to confirm truth and testify of God. God has given so many blessings to us that we might have this spirit to be with us. What a great promise! The spirit guides and prompts us in our lives and to have Gods direction in our lives. Everyone can feel a little bit of this divine power helping us on our way, but those who are baptized and receive the holy ghost by the laying on of hands can feel the true gift of the holy spirit. As I have strived, failed, gotten up and strived again to be a true messenger of the restored gospel, I have felt the holy spirit playing his role in this work of God’s. I felt the spirit this week while teaching a man about the story of the Book of Mormon on his doorstep. I felt His power testifying as I taught a recently ba

God works through little miracles

2/15/20 We had a good week! My companion Elder Coelho is great. Our work is great. A man that we are teaching We taught a man named Nicolas, who has so many questions! We are trying to help him know for himself instead of just taking a google consensus on the truth. He has been to church a few times and already has made some good friends in the church. We had an amazing leadership conference when the leaders of the mission all came into town and President really wanted to hear from and help all of us learn what is that we should be doing to help the other missionaries.  We also had some spiritual lessons with a less-active man. We talked about 2 Nefi 31 and talked about the road of life. He is a driver for a living, we tied it together about how we need to arrive at our final destination. God works through little miracles and they really do happen. I have felt God's love for others as I have seen their efforts to get better! And I know that His goal for us to jus

New missionaries are great

2/8/20 Hey my familão Transfers this week and here are the Highlights: We got to see some awesome missionaries finish their missions! The new missionaries are great! I actually know one of the sisters from home. Sister Ramirez she's a friend of Jordan and Blake Andersons family, and she went on trek with our ward a couple years back! She's already speaking Portuguese so well!!  There is a 7 foot Brazilian Elder who almost played basketball, but came on a mission instead. Ssooo huge yeah!!! We went to the bus station at 5 in the morning and I got to hang out with the new missionaries catching buses, so that was cool to talk with them more. They speak a few words, but have strong simple testimonies and are so excited to just go out and DO! Elder Pinkston broke his foot and so now will be living with us until he gets his medical exams done and heals up a little. He's from American Fork and is an awesome guy! He works in a hardwood cabinet shop and made eve
