Patients and Patience

November 9 2019

We walked up "Christ's Hill" for p-day
This week I felt a lot like dad. You know why? I spent a lot of time in a hospital.
We paid for a taxi for an Elder to get him here to the mission office and to a hospital. He was having a lot of problems, and so we were helping him recuperate at our place Monday.  Then we had to take him to the hospital again Monday at midnight.
Tuesday we woke up real early again and spent all day going to clinics and taking exams and waiting in the waiting rooms. We had left in such a rush that I didn't have time to grab my scriptures so I was dying sitting so long without something to study.
We got some rest, then I went back to the hospital Tuesday night to stay with the Elder
and stayed with him on Wednesday. So all of this gave me time to read some Book of Mormon and do some more studies. Im finishing the Book of Mormon! (na verdade o Livro de Mormon) It was a week that required a lot of patience.

Sunday I sat next to some families, that we are getting to know, at the church which is always the best to get to know them and help them meet other people. There are some of those members who are like ministering super heros that see a new face and jump the pews to say hi, compliment them and ask to sit next to them. I hope you Sheffield’s are that kind of person.

We put together a box of food with the sisters for a family that's passing through some hard times . Serving people is great.

MOM I WROTE A LETTER FOR YOU AND FOR YOUR BIRTHDAY, BUT I DON'T THINK IT MADE IT IN TIME.

It was good to hear uncle Joseph's liking the island life. Elder Eastwood is from Hawaii. And makes it so that we've been talking about that island life. We´ve decided to make a Hawaii trip.

Here's one of the best Brazilian snack foods it’s called a coxinha. I looked up a definition in English " Coxinha: Deep-fried dumpling filled with shredded chicken."
So yep that pretty much sums it up Mmmmmmm thats brazilian cooking mmm mmm good!!! (Sing it with me)

Today is p-day and we went to the highest point in the city called Christ ́s Hill. Getting to the top is going up the winding cobblestone streets. All along there are statues of Christ throughout his life and then throughout his deathIt’s sad because some of the statues got stolen or broken. I thought about how there are so many churches here and people here that are forgetting or taking out parts of Christ’s life and ministry! Most people know the basics but they don't have all of the parts! How grateful I am to have revelation and connection with God, to be able to receive the missing pieces and the parts taken away or lost. And we get to know Christ and get to feel closer to him, not just read a book about him or see statues built of him and not just believe what others say about him.
We can actually read what He said, live as he commanded us to, and follow the people called by him.

But when we got to the top of the mountain and the city opens up with all the hills and forests, it was such a good view.

Hey mom you’re the best. By the way, thanks for being the coolest mom and I’m sorry I didn't get your card to you before your birthday but I have faith it will get there.

Love your son, Elder Sheffield
