Tres Corações (Three hearts)

Helping missionaries at the bus stop
Oiiii familia,

What a week
I left my area Tuesday and there was an accident along the road so the I couldn't get to my connecting bus to get to my area of Três Corações. So I stayed in the bus station for the day helping with transfers, helping missionaries catch buses and helping buy tickets for the other missionaries. It was great getting to talk to all the missionaries as they were coming and leavingWe taught some people at the bus station and had good discussions.
It’s like a 6-hour bus ride to my new area. I finally got there and got to work. The city is Três Corações. You’ve probably never heard of it, but it’s the birthplace of "O Rei Pele", the king of soccer so there are some statues and streets and buildings named after him .My new companion is Elder Costa from the Federal District of Brasil, called “Brasilia the Capital of Brasil”.  He’s great, really responsible and a good missionary and so I don’t feel like I need to babysit or keep bugging him to do what we need to do. We are here to work and to serve. I think we are learning a lot together. It’s more responsibility, but it's making me try harder to help him be better.

The branch is a lot bigger with about 70 members that go every week and lots more that are less active. We are trying to get to know the members. Ahhh so many names and faces but we are getting thereThen we got a call that we would need to go back to Juiz de Fora to renew
my visa so we had to get another bus yesterday night at 7:00 and got here
good and early this morning.

I was studying this week in Alma and man it is just missionary work. Teaches so much about how to teach and how to serveWe serve every day we pray every day to look for people to serve why? Is“service” time that has been spent knocking doors? not even a little bit. Service is an opportunity to show that we really love others and that we are here to be representatives of Christ. That’s the difference between religious salesman and missionaries. Onewants numbers and to fill church seats and the other want to help and bless people with the restored gospel of Christ. Nothing softens hearts like Christlike service. Alma didn’t arrive at king Lamoni and say “do you want to hear a message about God?” No, he said “Can I serve you? and that led to the conversion of him and his family and then his servants and then his fathers and his father’s servants and that opened the door for thousands to hear their message. What a great example for us as saints of Christ.  We can never take simple acts of simple service for grantedI love serving the people here and I love to teach of Christ because Iknow he loves these people so much.
