FELIZ PASCUA
April 22, 2019
They have some different traditions here, plastic Easter eggs don’t exist (trust me we looked, and all the people looked at us like we were crazy).
They don’t decorate white eggs!!!! Can you believe it!!
We made some chocolate eggs with some members to give them to the kids and to the branch. At first, they turned out really ugly looking, but by the end Elder Diaz and I were practically professional chocolatiers. haha
We did lots of services this week also.

Funny story
There was this lady carrying a bottle of water home and we offered to help her and she said “no no” and turned the cold shoulder on us. But her very energetic son of probably 12 years of age started talking to us like “Hey you guys are from a church or something?”
“Yeah, actually we are!!” And we started talking to him and he was so excited to talk to Americans and so he was asking all these questions and how do you say this and say that.
and he was even more excited to hear that we had an English class. So we told him when English was and asked the mom again if she needed help and so we kept on walking looking for other houses on this road and we arrived at the last house we had to visit for the night and guess who would just happen to live right next door? This lady! So we talked to her two sons a little more and then she started to open up and ask a few questions and so we taught a short lesson about the Book of Mormon and about the restoration. The mom Valesca was getting a little less closed-off to us and so we asked if we could say a prayer and her two sons Vitor and Tiago finally convinced her. As we were leaving she let it slip that they were moving and we volunteered to come help, but she refused to accept our help!!! haha, She said she didn’t want her pastor or the members of her church to see her talking with us. So, in the end, we said: “Alright here’s the thing, we will be here at 7:00 tomorrow morning to help”. When we showed up she was so shocked that we actually showed up. We spent most of the day carrying things down the street, talking about their lives and about the church. In the end, she said, “why does my pastor say to not make friends with you people?!?”
We laughed and said, “WE HAVE NO IDEA”.
I’ve been saving up chocolate for the past month to make a little Easter package for the other missionaries. I hid them all Sunday morning and made everyone search for them. At first they thought I was just lying, but eventually, everyone found their packages and it was a good Easter morning.
Elder Correia and I sang Sunday.
All in all, it was a great Holy Week. We got lots of chances to testify that Jesus Christ lives that he really exists!!!
Cristiane Gisline and Christopher- some of our investigators couldn't make it to church, because they were celebrating Easter. But we had some great lessons. Cristiane is especially needing help to read the Book of Mormon.

We planned a huge branch Easter party with chocolate eggs, candy and the whole deal. It was great! We had a family of investigators there and I think they really loved it. |
We are so excited to hear Elder Gary Stevenson Wednesday in the
conference with him. It will be great!!!!
I hope all of you had a great Easter!!!!
