Monday we said goodbye to everyone and had a family night with Luiz Phillipe and some members.

Tuesday Danielle waited with us at the bus station a couple hours talking and waiting.

Here in Barra do Piria city it’s me Elder Rodrigues (an elder from Manaus Brazil) and Elder Souza from the northeast of Brazil with Elder Correa from Rio Grande do Sul Brazil.

My Companion is a goofy guy always making jokes and laughing haha. He also is a workout junky so he’s been pounding us with morning exercise. So that’s been fun, but my calves are killing me and a day I couldn’t lift my hands over my head, but he said "you’ll get used to it" haha.
When I arrived we got to know the area a little better by visiting some recent members. Man, I love this city! It’s so great, it’s so beautiful.

The branch on Sunday was us four missionaries, the branch president, his wife their 2baby girls,  2 of our new members and 2 others.So it’s pretty small, but they are such great people. It’s like having aclean slate to just work and do something new I’m way excited.

hills hills and more hills

I prepared and gave the sacrament, gave a talk and played the piano (which Imessed up pretty bad hahaha but it was great).Then we gave the lesson in the second hour.

Elder Rodrigues is what you could call unconventional or creative, so hehas a lot of ideas about how to work differently. Not just do the sameunproductive things that everyone does. So it’s been great working withhim, he makes the work new and easier to get out and get to work.

I like what you wrote about how “whoever said that you won’t be askedto bear more than you are capable of is wrong. You WILL be asked to domore than you can handle. If that was not the case, you would not needthe atonement. If you were capable on your own, you wouldn’t need torely on Heavenly Father. You wouldn’t need to turn your hearts andplead to Jesus. If that doesn’t some up the mission I don’t know whatdoes.You are forced to leave what you are comfortable doing, you are forcedto rely on others, your companion and the Lord. It’s like a crashcourse on how to acquire attributes of Christ, especially humility.

We took some of the people we are teaching, and some students from anEnglish course that they had here and went to a lanchonete (its like awhole in the wall restaurant/snack bar) and we bought three huge boxesof french fries with cheese bacon and sausage ooooooooo
ummm it was so good.

We are planning to go on a hike today so I’ll have better fotos for next week.

I decided with president advice to leave some of my distractions behind, so Ileft the guitar all shiny and good lookin’ back in the other city. I’ll be plenty busy practicing piano now, so it’s for the better.
