Day of the dead

3Nov18
Ola e Boa Tarde (Hello and good afternoon)

We’ve been talking a lot about the members this week. The ward is just kinda unexcited and burnt out on working so hard for so long. We started to put in real effort to helping the members and fortifying them. We had actividades (activities) at the church Tuesday and Thursday and we had a family night with a member every day this week. The members here are so great.

This week was the anniversary of the city and so it was a holiday Tuesday. The city doesn’t really have a whole lot here, so it was a big deal that they fixed up the old fountain in the town square and turned it on with lights and huge water spray. The town square was full of people and one of our friends and new members sang for the city’s anniversary. I love this city so much

Thursday was the day of the dead her in brazil, and no (I know what you’re thinking) it’s not at all like the day of the dead in Mexico. Everyone goes to the cemetery, and it’s just sad. No big party’s or food or music, just kinda a bummer. We were at the cemetery all day, talking to people about their families and the stories they had. We had the opportunity to share a message of life after death and of eternal families and tried to help share the plan of happiness to people who really needed it.
Getting the call about transfers

My companion, Elder Arruda is being TRANSFERRRED. He’s headed down south to Rio and I’m getting a new companion, a Peruvian, tomorrow. Elder Arruda is such an amazing missionary and such an amazing person. He’s only been a member for 3 years but he has so much faith and is such an amazing testimony of the gospel. Man I’m going to miss him. But don’t tell him that.

Love you guys com o fundo de meu coração (with the bottom of my heart)
