It’s a pretty small town, and it’s the furthest north city of my mission. You should all go google, search it right now, I’m not sure there will be street view because the roads here are all dirt or cobblestone and are crazy, but you should look it up and explore the city.
I am so glad I grew up in Utah and liked hiking. And grew up on a steep street because that was practice for living here. The city of Pointe nova is like a game of Jenga that the people built on the rolling hills and a big river going through it. Most of the streets are steep and then there are some that are STEEEP like 45 degrees. Especially climbing back up; it steeps. So it’s just like I’m back home rock climbing (except I’m in a shirt a tie and slacks). All the house are built from red brick and cement and are stacked on top of each other and everyone just kinda builds their house wherever it fits. This makes it impossible to do addresses so most of the time they don’t or the house number is just a chalk number written on a wall. BUT I LOVE IT SO MUCH.
Reasons everyone in my family would love Pointe Nova
Jacob: there are always kids hanging out in the street, playing soccer or flying kites. You could go fishing every day in the river.
Samuel: There is Always music playing, Drums and guitars and Brazilian rap
You would both love riding bikes down these hills, they are like a perfect mountain biking course. If you could ride here you could ride anywhere
Andrew: There are more motorcycles here then cars. Everyone that can afford it has a motorcycle and they are pros at surviving these roads.
Emily: All of the houses are bright, bright colors. Sooo many of the houses are painted turquoise and blue. Literally all of them are your wedding colors. I want you to make a water color of the city with all the colorful houses.
Nate : They also have a really nice bike shop you could go biking with Sam and Jake. You always wanted to own land and here you could just pick a spot, chop down the palm trees and build you a house. We could paint it turquoise, and all move in. Grandma could come too and bring her chickens. There are a lot of chickens walking around here.
The people here are so amazing the members are so nice. They always cook us lunch or give us some fresh fruit if you pass them on the street.
Oh also they have a bunch of capybara they are biggg!
You should all memorize D&C 4 in English because this week I’m going to memorize it in Portuguese.
My birthday has been great so far. I got to talk to you all and my companions sang happy birthday to me in Portuguese and played it on guitar. This morning I made myself a breakfast sandwich and got some sweet bread from the store as my birthday "cake"
LOVE you ALL
Happy Anniversary mom and dad. Love you especially much
