Thanksgiving

26Nov18 Dia Das Graçis Boa Tarde!!! What a week! There are weeks on the mission, when you are so busy with non-stop talking to people, teaching lesson, meeting people, that the week just flies by. It’s already the end of November?!!!! We got up early and made our personal study early and then made our Thanksgiving feast. Elder Anderson made some mashed potatoes, I made some gravy, bought some fresh rolls. We had corn, carrots and a roasted chicken.  Elder Ribeiro and Elder Guevara wanted to add some Brazilian and Peruvian food, so they added to the feast.  We let it cook throughout the day and that night we moved our study desk to make a table and we all sat around told stories and laughed about the funny mission stories we had. We made a chocolate and banana pie and it didn’t look pretty, but it tasted great. In the end, Elder Ribeiro an Elder Guevara where confused why we didn’t make any rice but they loved the gravy and mash...

A chef in the field

Ola gentes  How was thanksgiving?!?!?! Man a good banana and chocolate pie sounds so good right now.   This week got taken over by travel again 6 hours to go to the city of Lafiete to our zone headquarters.   Lost some time working which was a bummer but had a little more time to language study and catch up on my bible study Didn’t have a whole lot of money for a thanksgiving feast but we helped a member cook lunch. He was kind of lost in the kitchen, so we helped him out we made this lime and pimenta maranade for the chicken and I whipped out a classic ;) and made a light creamy white sauce for the pasta. It turned out really good!!! After we left my companion turned to me and said I didn’t know you could cook!  We are going to trade chef secrets and he’s going to make more Peruvian food for us.  I’m praying hard and studying more than ever before. The field is white for harvest and the Lord is there and I’m doing great. Love ...

I know... how the heck did I teach an English class when that has always been my worst subject! my English teachers where probably rolling in their graves but it was actually so good. it was at a prestige language learning school here in town and they were excited to talk to fluent English speakers we talked about sports food life in the USA and they helped me learn about Portuguese a...

Day of the dead

3Nov18 Ola e Boa Tarde (Hello and good afternoon) We’ve been talking a lot about the members this week. The ward is just kinda unexcited and burnt out on working so hard for so long. We started to put in real effort to helping the members and fortifying them. We had actividades (activities) at the church Tuesday and Thursday and we had a family night with a member every day this week. The members here are so great. This week was the anniversary of the city and so it was a holiday Tuesday. The city doesn’t really have a whole lot here, so it was a big deal that they fixed up the old fountain in the town square and turned it on with lights and huge water spray. The town square was full of people and one of our friends and new members sang for the city’s anniversary. I love this city so much Thursday was the day of the dead her in brazil, and no (I know what you’re thinking) it’s not at all like the day of the dead in Mexico. Everyone goes to the ...
