Singing Praises
Dec 7 2019
Saturday- Sorry i had to cut our phone call short and run. We had a Christmas singing night in the church. The choirs sang cultural Christmas songs from the many cultures mixed into Brazilian.
The best part was a talented group of 6 men that sang Latin music. They sang some classic Italian Christmas carols. Us missionaries also had a shabby rag tag rendition of "Ouviu os hinos de Natal" (“We heard the bells on Christmas day”)

We had prepared some Christmas presents for the many groups and singers. There was also a choral edition looking children's choir singing some African rooted Christmas songs
Sunday- we ate with an older member of the church who has the best view. I love the members here.
The next couple of days were a blur as we had our two Christmas Zone conferences. We had half of the mission here on one day, and the other half on the other day.
They were great some highlights
We organized all the missionaries and sang in one of the busiest streets in the city. we had wrapped Liahona’s one by one as a Christmas present and gave them to people we talked to in the street who had stopped to listen to the music. I got to lead that group for awhile.
Thank heaven my parents taught me little by little how to lead music in family home evening. It was great, President testified about how happy the people looked who stopped by.
We made a Face to Face with President and Sister for the missionaries to get to know him better.
We also edited a video of the missionaries in the mission as they open their mission calls. Then we had the missionaries over who are leaving next. It was pretty rainy this week, but we still managed to get some good days in contacting a little in the rainy streets.
I’m grateful for the package I received. I pinned my little Christmas tree on the wall next to my table. All of the missionaries in our house are sharing the candies and snacks as they ration them out. An American elder gave me a Reese’s peanut butter cup this morning ummmmum tis the season.
I’ve been thinking about the reforming of one the most famous and memorable buildings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, the Temple of Salt Lake. I read a talk given by Jefferey R. Holland about the construction of the great and sacred building. It’s a talk called “However long and hard the road”

As he talks about the determination of the saints. What a hard characteristic to have.
I'm going to try to work on determination. The lord doesn't need perfect servants right now, just willing and determined one.
This is God's work, the church bears His name because he leads it. How grateful I am to be a missionary! How grateful I am to be able to become or at least try everyday a little more like Christ.
