Mission Presidents are changing

We took a bus to a city 3 hours away to meet with the rest of our district (the trio Sister Gomez Sister Stocco and Sister S. Silva)It was great taking about preach my gospel (chapter 11) and our investigatorsThe next bus only left there at 4:00 so until then we knocked doors and made
contacts. It was great we didn’t know much about how to get around the city but just talked to everyone.

Roberto e Taina are going to get married. We had an awesome lesson with Roberto e Taina talking about all the blessing God has for them and the importance of marriage. We left three challenges: pray every day together, read the scriptures every day together and ponder about marriage and what we had talked about in our lesson. Robert kept his head down and just sat there. When we came back, they were all cozy on the couch watching a movie and Robert had a huge smile. Before we had even said anything he told us he had gone ring shopping and they were looking so happy.

We taught a man named Lucas and it was a great lesson. He was so interested when we talked about the authority of God and how it was taken away. He was almost exploding saying “and where does that leave us if we don’t have the authority and what do we do?!?”
We explained how the priesthood was restored and testified about how we have a lot of hope for him and I know he felt the spirit.

We were invited to lunch to celebrate a members birthday. Right now it’s the cold season and it’s a tradition to make “Feijoada”. A stew of beans and every part of the pig. When I got my ladle full I ended up with a pig hoof and a knee. Tasty right? hahahaha It’s actually really good

There was a huge conference for the Catholic members in the area and it’s held in the city park and the city park is right in front of the chapel. It was cool because the military band walked down the street playing How great thou art”. I thought of Jacob there with them. Maybe if he learns how to play the saxophone.

An elderly man, Walter, we visited previously, went to church on Sunday. Turns out he’s famous in the city for going crazy during Carnaval hahahaIt was just funny to imagine this guy dancing to samba music. hahaha

We were eating lunch on Sunday and a member put on some Motab (Tabernacle Choir) music
and it was the American national anthem. It almost brought a tear to my eye hahaha Can’t believe It’s already the Fourth of July!!!!!

I learned a little more about kite fighting this week. A hill in a neighborhood where we were teaching was fulllllllll of people flying kites. Probably 40 kites that we could count. The objective was to cut the stings of the others and then with your kitecatch the loose kite and bring them both in on your string. The other group of people is a bunchhhhh of kids in the streets below the hill with huge bamboo sticks that run all over the place trying to catch the kites that got cut loose hahaha it was chaos

Then I was thinking about kites, as it was raining down kites, as an analogy. So often we are so short sited thinking about all these crazy things in life that are blowing us one side to the other. And maybe we wonder why is God letting this happen to meAnd even more he gave us rules. Some feel rules are pulling on us- do this don’t do thatBut if we were a kite, God knows that He trying to take us higher and higher. But sometimes he needs to give a little tug against the wind to get us higher.

I love you all
Explode some fireworks for me and do some fun 4th of July stuff- just don’t let Sam explode himself haha
