500 Contacts

OPA BOA TARDE
(Good Afternoon)
This week Presidente decided that it would be 500 contacts for every companionship, so we did a lot of talking and a lot of contacting. We had to be creative with some of our contacts and so we had a lot of attempts turned down and a lot of funny stories.
This week was also the last week of the presidential election here in Brazil and so the streets have been full.
There was a group of people on the street corner with political flags and posters handing out flyers and there was this guy on the corner who’d been handing out flyers all day. He handed me one, but I was ready and as he did. I said “thanks, lets trade” and I gave him a contact card. He looked shocked and definitely didn’t see that coming. I shared a short message with him and he assured me he’d check out the church.
We tried contacting a group of monkeys by putting piece of banana on our contacting card so they would grab it. But sadly they were sceptic and refused to take our card, and they didn’t even invite us back for another lesson.
I was thinking about Mathew 5 this week when Christo is giving the Sermon on the Mount and said that we should be a light to the world for all to see our example and praise our Father in Heaven. How great of an opportunity is that!
As missionaries, everything we do is to be examples of the believer and to share this light and remind people of the Savior. LET YOUR LIGHT SO SHINE
About sending packages. My companions were persistent that there is fedex here and that that is the best way to send a package. I would just try sending it through the normal ways, but really if the packages don’t work or whatever, its really all ok I’m just excited to talk to you. That is present enough for me.
Seeing dad wearing a halloween wig made me laugh so hard.
Love you all so much,
Elder Sheffield
